PCT National Phase Entry in Turkey

Turkish patent attorney support for applicants and foreign associates: from instruction and translation planning to national filing and subsequent prosecution.

Stan Advoka assists with PCT national phase entry before TÜRKPATENT. We review the application record, confirm the intended text and identify the work needed for entry into Türkiye. Our engineering background and European and Turkish patent practice connect the filing task with the technical and procedural questions that may follow.

Request a national phase quotation with the PCT or WO publication number and your target filing date.

PCT national phase deadline in Turkey

WIPO’s time-limit table lists 30 months from the priority date for Türkiye under both PCT Chapters I and II. It also lists entry at 33 months subject to payment of an additional late-entry fee. The later limit is conditional, rather than a fee-free extension.

Send the application record and relevant dates before relying on a filing deadline. Our review considers the priority data, the proposed entry date and any issue requiring individual assessment. Please identify an approaching deadline explicitly in the subject of your enquiry.

Documents for a quotation and filing review

To assess the matter, please provide the following available materials. This is our instruction checklist; the formal documents required in an individual case are confirmed after review.

  • The PCT application number and WO publication number.
  • The published application and, where available, editable text and drawings.
  • The priority and international filing dates.
  • Applicant and inventor details, including any recorded or pending changes.
  • The international search report and written opinion, and any preliminary examination report.
  • Amendments made during the international phase and instructions on the text to be pursued.
  • Your firm and client references, invoicing details and any existing Turkish representation.

A clear instruction should identify the intended application text and any separate request for amendments or substantive analysis. If a document is unavailable, tell us which one is missing so that we can determine the next step.

Turkish translation requirements

WIPO’s Türkiye national chapter lists Turkish as the required translation language and specifies submission within two months from entry into the national phase. This translation period is separate from the national phase entry deadline.

The chapter identifies the description, claims, abstract and text in drawings, with the applicable amended text depending on the international-phase procedure. We confirm the text to be translated against the publication and amendment record.

For translation planning, provide editable documents where available, any agreed terminology and instructions concerning earlier translations. The review should preserve consistent relationships between claim features, technical terms, figures and the description.

Local representation in Türkiye

WIPO’s national chapter requires appointment of an agent where the applicant is not resident in Türkiye. The appointment and any supporting formalities should be reviewed for the particular applicant and instruction.

Our professional background and qualifications explain the practice behind the service. Foreign associates may include their internal references and reporting requirements when instructing the matter.

PCT national phase entry cost in Turkey

A useful quotation separates the work required for entry from later prosecution. Ask which of the following items are included:

  • Professional work for instruction review and national filing.
  • Official fees applicable to the proposed entry.
  • Any additional fee associated with the chosen entry date.
  • Turkish translation, document preparation and technical review.
  • Any separately requested amendment, examination or renewal work.

Translation volume, document quality, amendment history and requested services affect the scope. We confirm the quotation after reviewing the available materials. An initial filing quotation should not be read as a fixed price for all future prosecution.

Send the PCT or WO number for a quotation review.

From instruction to Turkish filing

  1. Review: identify the application, intended text, applicant details and timing.
  2. Confirm scope: agree the filing, translation and any additional professional work.
  3. Prepare: coordinate documents, representation information and translation planning.
  4. File and report: carry out the instructed work and report the resulting filing information.
  5. Plan follow-up: identify the next actions and confirm responsibility for prosecution and renewals.

When reviewing an existing PCT case, an entry instruction and a request to redesign the claim strategy should be distinguished. This helps define both the professional work and the applicant’s decisions before a filing is made.

Patent prosecution after national phase entry

Entry starts the national phase; it is not a grant decision. The national procedure can involve formalities, examination and responses to Office communications. WIPO’s national phase overview explains this transition.

For our approach to subsequent work, see patent prosecution in Türkiye. Our drafting and prosecution practice discusses disclosure, support and claim strategy. The Turkish patent timeline provides a separate way to explore the procedure.

Tell us whether the instruction covers entry only or continued handling, so that responsibility for later communications is clear.

PCT Turkey national phase questions

Is this the same service as EP validation in Turkey?

This page concerns a PCT application entering the Turkish national phase. If your instruction instead concerns a granted European patent, use our European patent validation in Türkiye page and identify the EP publication.

Can I request a quotation before the translation is prepared?

Yes. Send the application number and available text, identifying any amendments and whether a Turkish translation already exists. We can then assess the proposed translation and filing scope.

What if the ordinary entry deadline is close or has passed?

Send the relevant dates and record immediately for review. The conditional later-entry provision described above should be assessed against the actual matter. Do not assume that an unanswered enquiry confirms acceptance of an instruction or a filing date.

Can you assist with both Turkish and European patent matters?

Our practice covers Turkish and European patent work. See our European patent practice for separate EPO matters. Identify the jurisdiction and route you want us to handle in each instruction.
